The attack on a private kindergarten in Cina, Jiangxi province
The man described as a “gangster wearing a cap and a mask” in southeastern China entered a kindergarten armed with a knife, fatally shot three people and injured six others. He fled later.
Such events are very rare in China, because it strictly forbids citizens to own firearms, but in recent years there have been mass stabbings.
Last April, also in a kindergarten in southern China, two children were killed and another 16 wounded by a man armed with a knife.
In July, four people were wounded with a knife in a Shanghai hospital before the armed assailant was shot and stopped by police. Six people were killed and 14 injured after a man with a stabbing weapon began hitting passers-by on a pedestrian street full of shops in Anqing, eastern China, in June last year.
