If you do not comply with this rule in Austria you can be fined up to 5 thousand euros

The Austrian Automobile Club ÖAMTC and the Austrian Road Services Service ARBÖ warn motorists that from November 1 in Austria, according to the rules in force, cars in traffic must have winter tires on their wheels.

The law provides for mandatory winter equipment from November 1 of this year to April 1 of the following year.

Proper winter tires must have one of the following markings: M&S or M/S; M+S or MS.

For those who do not respect the mandatory decision on winter tires, the law has provided extremely heavy penalties for drivers.

The Austrian traffic police can issue fines of up to 5,000 euros to car owners who, in the period from November 1 to April 15, do not have winter tires on their wheels when driving on Austrian roads.
