Investigation on Google: “Position abuse”

“It is dominant in several markets”

The Competition Authority has initiated an investigation against Google, hypothesizing an abuse of a dominant position in violation of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.

The giant, observes the Antitrust Authority, has a dominant position in various markets that make it possible to acquire enormous quantities of data through the services provided (Gmail, Google Maps, Android) and in 2021 it achieved a turnover of 257.6 billion dollars. For the Authority, it hindered interoperability in sharing data with other platforms.
