Putin and Xi Jinping: meeting in Samarkand next week

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, will meet on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, scheduled for September 15-16 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. This was announced by the Russian ambassador to Beijing, Andrey Denisov. “We are planning a serious and comprehensive meeting of our leaders with a detailed agenda, which we are working on with our Chinese partners,” the diplomat said. It would be the first meeting in person between Putin and Xi since the start of the war in Ukraine.
