The sharp increase in prices in almost all sectors is at the top of citizens’ concerns in Germany, according to a survey.
“Even the war in Ukraine, climate change and the coronavirus were not as worrying as the increase in the cost of living,” said the survey published by McKinsey management consulting expert Marcus Jacob, reports dpa.
Some 57% of the more than 1,000 respondents said their biggest concern at the moment was inflation. More than two-thirds of respondents, in the survey conducted between September 23 and October 2, said they expected prices to continue rising. While only 18% of respondents named the war in Ukraine as their biggest worry, 6% were worried about climate change and 3% about the Covid19 pandemic. According to Jacob, more than a third of consumers already have to limit their consumption of non-essential products. More than half of them are no longer saving.
