The Russian Defense Ministry in a statement denied that its missiles crossed into Poland, calling the reports a “deliberate provocation.”
“The statements of the media and Polish officials about the alleged fall of ‘Russian’ missiles in the Przewodu area are a deliberate provocation to escalate the situation. No strikes on targets near the Ukrainian-Polish state border were carried out by Russian missiles. The debris published by the Polish media from the site of the event in the village of Przewoduv has nothing to do with Russian weapons,” says the reaction.
A senior American official has confirmed reports that two Russian missiles fell in Poland, a NATO member state, causing the death of two people, the Associated Press news agency reports.
He declared about the attack under conditions of anonymity due to its sensitive nature.
The spokesman of the Polish government, Piotr Müller, has not directly confirmed this information, however he has indicated that the leaders of the state are holding an urgent meeting as a result of a “critical situation”.
While according to the British tabloid, Daily Express, the rockets fell in the Polish city of Przewodów, which is on the border with Ukraine.
Police, prosecutors and the military are reportedly already on the scene, while the Polish armed forces are said to be on full alert.
