The government offers a sum for every soldier killed in fighting
Russian state TV broadcast a service that was intended to spark controversy. A couple tells of how they invested the sum given by the state as compensation for the killing of their son, what in jargon is sadly called “coffin money”.
“In memory of our son, we bought a new car. Alexei dreamed of having a white car like this one”. The first trip was to go to the cemetery where the young man rests after “fighting the Nazis”, say his parents, “just like his grandfather and great-grandfather”.
