The 8-year-old is the youngest person in the world to successfully climb the summit of El Capitan

An 8-year-old boy has become the youngest person in the world to successfully climb El Capitan, a 1,000m cliff in Yosemite. Sam Baker, from Colorado Spring, has been trained by his father since the age of 2 and precisely to climb El Capitan, he had been practicing for two years. The boy’s father, Joe Baker, posted on social media that the four-person climbing team had reached the top of the cliff safely.

“What a great week! I’m so proud of Sam. He completed the ElCap rope climb,” Baker wrote on his Facebook page. But Joe faced criticism from many fans who said he had seriously endangered his son’s life with this ill-conceived adventure.
