Beijing fears it may make a stop in Taiwan
The speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, begins today from Singapore. According to the Chinese media, she will be in Taiwan on August 4, something Beijing does not like. I am leading “a congressional delegation (…) to reaffirm America’s unwavering commitment to her allies and friends in the region,” Pelosi said yesterday.
“We will hold high-level meetings in Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan to discuss how we can promote our values and interests.”
According to Taiwanese state media TVBS, Nancy Pelosi will be arriving in Taipei tomorrow evening, August 2.
