His name is Lucas L. and he is a 20-year-old farmer and footballer the man who confessed to having first raped and then killed Justine Vayrac, his 20-year-old mother who disappeared last Saturday in Brive, France, and was found dead yesterday, in place indicated by his attacker.

A case that is upsetting the whole country, already deeply shaken by the death of Lola Doviet, the 12-year-old raped and tortured in Paris a few weeks ago.

In the last few hours, more details have emerged about Justine’s killer: the girl, mother of a 2 and a half year old boy, had gone with some friends to dance in the La Charrette disco. A few glasses too many, but nothing more. Around 4 o’clock, some of the guys present saw her for the last time right with Lucas before she disappeared into thin air.

It was a friend of the girl, Theo, who told law enforcement that Justine had gone off with Lucas that night. Theo’s testimony was fundamental for the investigators to track down Justine’s killer: as he also explained to the French newspaper Le Figarò, he had met the victim at the beginning of October and was together with her and other friends on the evening of the disappearance in the Brive-la-Gaillard nightclub.

Around 4 that night Justine “asked me out because she wanted to throw up,” said Theo, who then accompanied the girl outside the club, where they met Lucas. “I understood that they knew each other, I had never seen him. Then they left together”.

After the search for the young woman began, Theo told what happened to the police, who set out on the trail of Lucas, who was arrested last Monday. Then, yesterday the turning point: the boy confessed to having raped and killed Justine, also indicating the place of her burial. “He admitted killing the victim when both were in his home. He specified, without further explanation, that he punched, which resulted in death,” said Baptiste Porcher, Limoges prosecutor.

The boy remains in custody: he is accused of rape, kidnapping and murder. He faces life imprisonment.
